Adventures in Paradise!
Our visit to French Polynesia included Raiatea, Bora Bora, Pepeete Tahiti, Huahine, Rangiroa and Nuku Hiva(Marquesas Islands)
As a kid, I remember watching “Adventures in Paradise”, created by James Michener and based on his Pulitzer Prize winning book “Tales of the South Pacific”. The series ran on ABC from 1959 until 1962, (No age comments – please!)
Having our own Adventures in Paradise in French Polynesia, we continue to be awestruck and amazed by these stunningly beautiful islands.
From the air, from land, or from under the sea, this may very well be the most beautiful sights we have ever seen.
These islands of dramatic volcanic rock mountains are covered with lush green forests. The pristine white sand beaches bleed into turquoise waters teeming with an amazing array of brightly colored fish, clams, rays, sharks and eels and beautiful underwater coral formations. Add the famous black pearls with their shades of orange and pink, hundreds of tiny islands, called motus and French Polynesia is truly a paradise.
James Michener found himself tongue-tied: “So stunning, there are really no adequate words to describe it.”
With that said, please enjoy as we did – French Polynesia without words.
Our Trip of a Lifetime Around the World continues to amaze.

Having just returned from snorkeling in the Bahamas I am in awe of the underwater creatures of the Pacific you shared! A must see for my bucket list. I can’t say I have every heard of the show you referenced though as I was a late 1959 baby! Glad you are having the time of your life!
You must get yourselves to French Polynesia – maybe the most beautiful place we’ve ever seen. Thanks for making me feel even OLDER with the TV comment. You youngster, you!!

Hi Angela and thanks for your kind words! WOW! Good for you, booking the trip of a lifetime. We have only about 25 days remaining but continue to be amazed by this life changing adventure. OK – getting organized – SOOOO important. Here are some suggestions:
1. If you haven’t already done so – got on the Cruise Critic Roll Call for your sailing.
2. Carefully read the posts getting ideas and suggestions for excursions.
3. We have found that the excursions that were planned privately were not only more cost effective than ship’s tours, but offered much more. Smaller groups and therefore more flexibility, more activities than the larger groups.
4. The above suggestions are probably the most important aspect of our planning. We can’t stress enough the value of smaller tours.
5. Visit What’s In Port.com for ideas and suggestions.
6. Sources that we used to plan private tours are Trip Advisor.com, and Tours by Locals.com
7. Also, constantly monitor the roll call for your cruise for others that are offering private tours that you can join.
8. Read blogs of other world cruisers for ideas.
Hope this helps. Are you sailing Oceania in 2018? Chic
I have never seen such tropical places as you are in French Polynesia. Ya’ll continue to look relaxed and happy and with NO sunburn! DeeAnn

Hi neighbors and thanks for reading. Everyday continues to amaze us.
Perhaps the French Polynesia is so beautiful because “we” have not yet occupied it.
That’s pretty much it. Just too far away for us to wreck it!!
Incredible beauty. Looks almost unspoiled by man. We’re adding to our future travel plans, for sure!
For sure – still perfect. Thanks for reading, you two.
